Bishop Mark Kariuki in his resent visit to US challenged Kenyans in America to change their way of living and thinking. The problems of kenyans in US is that they still live and think as if they are still in Kenya, setting their own limits. He said it is good to choose careers as the market demands but people have to think outside the box. If you are a nurse you don't have to die a nurse. One can think of progressing to higher level or start their own institutions where they will be employers and not employees, from tenants to landlords, from students to profesionals and enterpreneurs. Change must begin within before we change others.

He warned Kenyans that their big problem is being "Kenyan" all round; work with kenyans, school with Kenyans, church with Kenyans, heng out with Kenyans, business targeting only Kenyans and other activities geered towards Kenyans. Doing all this will not stop one fron thinking "Kenyan" and it is also a good source of limiting self on the far you can go . Bishop mark challenged Kenyans to interact with Amerians by joining American social clubs and attending business forums organized within your local counties and cities. Many groups and orginization succeed because they know the secret of working together and investing in others. Somalis, latinos and Indians have discovered this secret and are now thriving in businesses commanding small business ownership in convinient stores and gas stations.

Kenyans did not take this challenge lightly and in reaction to this Connection Network LLC,  was formed with a purpose to bring together all professionals and business minded people to mentor and exchange ideas among  network members. The group meets every second Thursday of the month.

This has led to opening of  Connection Busines Center in North County, a one stop shop providing variety of services ranging from;  investment opportunities, business advertising, money transfer, calling cards, flights tickets and many others.  This marks the begining of the new bigining for Kenyan community in St Lois. For those who are thinkng of starting their own businesses or are already in business this would be a good place to start. All you need is to show up with your ideas and CNL will connect you with the rest of the world.
