WILL KENYANS EVER CHANGE THEIR COUNTRY? PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 13 April 2010 23:58

altThe type of information you allow to go through your mind determines how you react to different·issues and circumstances. If you allow negative thoughts, you will be a negative person but if you hang out with successive and progressive people, they will influence you to be a positive person.

Your mind is like a computer, the type of data·or software you upload will determine the programs the computer will be able to run. A trained·mechanic cannot use the same knowledge and skills to perform the work of a surgeon.

Our society has trained and equipped our sons and daughters to be·mechanics yet we expect them to perform exceptional as surgeons.

Carolyn Nderitu puts it this way , "everyone has his own drum·and only you who can play it better".· A politician will not be the person he is not just because of your expectations or your problems. In other words it is us who has trained our politicians to be who they are yet we keep complaining of corruption and poor governance.·Have we ever thought what they do they could be doung at their best and to the best of their knowledge and experience?. Watch this!!.

In our society today morality has become relative. What·you think is morally wrong depends on how you persive it and to whom it is being addressed to.·

We may be spending sleepless night thinking how to get rid of drugs in the market for the safety of our kids but some people somewhere are busy·working on·marketing strategies to penetrate and develop new drugs outlets in your house, in schools and colleges. If anything they would do their best  to pass a law that would protect  them and provide govenment subsidies. And why are young people dying in questionable circumstance?

When·you invest your money you expect to get some returns and you would do the best you can to maximize on your ROI. In Kenya, the first qualification to be a Member of Parliament is·the amount·of money you have, how·much you can bribe and how good you are giving empty promises. Kenyans have been taken for granted for many years because there is no accountability and measurable outcomes.

Time is up for old politics where leaders overpromises and under delivers. It is the responsibility of every Kenyan to know where we are on vision 2030 and who has the right policies to take us there.

We· now have a new constitution but i am afraid to say that,·constitution alone will not change our country. ·Implementation is what we need and unless we fire some people and hire new ones, we will continue to drink from the old winskin.

My fellow Kenyans, tighten your belts·we have a long way to go.

These professional procrastinators in Kenya need to know that "you don't lower your expectations to meet your performance. You raise your level of performance to meet your expectations."

Kenyan politicians invest a lot of money during campaigns and because of our faithfulness and honesty we vote them in. When they get in parliament, why do we complain when they discover an easy way to get their ROI?. You would do the same way if it were you. Others are clinging on power to protect their interest. Why can't we look their track records and tell who is lying and who has the interest of Kenyans at heart. I don't understand why we can have same people in power for half a century with no track record yet we keep rehiring them over and over.

"You cannot do the same thing over and over and expect different results. If you want something different you must be willing to do something you never did before" Albert Seintbert

You (mwanachi) are the employer with the power to hire and fire people who work for you. After every five years you are given an opportunity to evaluate your staff past performance and determine who keeps the job and who needs a replacement.

Jim Collins puts it this way, "....to build a successful organization and team, you must get the right people on the bus and put them in the right seats”. We all know who are the right people to match the right seatts but when elections come we end up doing the wrong thing.

When organizations fail we don't blame employees, we blame the CEO's for hiring wrong people for the job. Mwanachi are the CEOs for our government  and they  have given up their power and authority to be controlled and managed by their employees. No organization has ever survived in the history of mankind where wrong policies, bad leadership and management takes the order of the day.

Expectations minus reality equals frustrations and regrets. Let us not be fooled this time but be rational and do the right thing.

You are right, the first step to change a situation is to discover there is a problem, then how it came to be and finally how to solve it. Our main problem we only accept there is a problem but we don't take responsibility. We also don't visiolise where problems originate. We employ the politicians, this means we hire unqualified man power then we complain the job is not done. On other hand those who ignore our beloved country are even worse. We need to propel the right culture and trent. ..... BY Jesii Kimani
